In this is charming holiday gift, we've paired our two wines with labels designed by self-taught artist and illustrator Ruth Harper, who is best known for her work in many New York Times #1 best-selling children’s picture books. Presented in a custom black box.

2015 Dashaway Chardonnay
A limited cellar release
The charmingly-illustrated label features reindeer flying over our Napa Valley vineyards on Christmas Eve. This was Ruth's first wine label, and in preparation she researched over fifty vintage drawings of flying reindeer to make sure her renditions were as realistic as possible. Ruth, who takes inspiration predominantly from the natural world, also chose the label colors carefully. "I wanted to use gold since Chardonnay is a golden-colored wine. And I thought the royal blues and purples were complementary and also expressive of the night."

The Chardonnay is sourced entirely from our family's sustainably farmed vineyards in Napa Valley. Fermented in French oak barrels and aged in a combination of oak and concrete vessels, it shows off rich, ripe, caramelized fruit, hints of warm apple pie and notes of Bosc pear and almond paste. Twice-weekly lees stirring and 30% malolactic fermentation give the wine a creamy, open texture, and the long finish coats the mouth in delicious vanilla custard. This is ideal as an aperitif, and also works well with roast turkey with all the fixings.

2016 Holiday Helper Cabernet
This is the second wine label Ruth has created for us, and her whimsical watercolor of those hard-working but ever-cheerful elves wrapping their holiday gifts is a reminder that even Santa needs a little help!

The Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from Flora Springs’ estate vineyards throughout Napa Valley. It’s a palate-warming wine, with loads of young, vibrant black fruit, juicy cassis and creamy notes of vanilla and cola. There’s a sweet spiciness that comes from the French oak, a hint of mocha, and a slowly evolving note of black licorice. This is a smooth, richly textured, full-bodied Cab with soft tannins and a long, velvety finish. We advise a stress-free food pairing, such as a store-bought roast chicken, Pizza Margherita (takeout is fine), or for an appetizer, hard cheeses with toasted walnuts. Of course, we won’t mind if you enjoy it with your favorite Christmas cookie!
